Danilo - Archaeological site

Danilo - Arheološko nalazište,

Sibenik, Croatia, Area

Not far from Šibenik is one of the most important archaeological sites in Croatia - Danilo - which dates back to the Neolithic era when the Danish culture was born. The entire Neolithic cultural circle was called the Danil culture.
Danilo Gradina was the seat of the Ridita tribe, a western branch of the Delmat people, during the last two centuries BC. Later findings show that the hillfort was used throughout antiquity. During the Roman Empire (in the 1st century), the center of life moved to the foot of the hillfort, where the city of Rider (Municipium Riditarium) was formed. The modestly explored remains of the city, which was an important traffic junction on the Salona-Scardona road, show that this place was not spared by the works of top artists.
